Pharmacology is a branch of medicine that studies the actions of drugs. The drug can be man-made, natural or an endogenous molecule. Any aspiring physician should have sound knowledge of pharmacology. With the masters’ courses in Pharmacology, students gain a thorough knowledge of medications.
The medications include various routes of administration, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse drug reactions and dosage schedules.
The department is headed by well-qualified faculty who keep themselves abreast by participating in national and international conferences, and by presenting scientific papers.
The students of the Department of Pharmacology have the advantage of fully equipped laboratories for availing the resources for practical training in clinical pharmacology, experimental pharmacology and pharmacy. Furthermore, the clinical pharmacology unit aids students with practical training in bedside diagnosis as well as its treatment. All the research laboratories are equipped with a colorimeter, a flame photometer, physiographs, a pH meter and a kymograph.
The advanced pharmacology museum facility encourages students to grasp faster through observation. At the museum, the displays include charts, models, drug samples and a segment representing the history of medicine.
